TC 4.4 is concerned with the requirements and overall performance of the building envelope as it relates to:
1) heat, air and moisture related properties of building materials
2) fundamental heat, air and moisture transport processes of assemblies;
3) interactions with interior conditions and HVAC systems.
In addition, TC 4.4 is concerned with the properties of materials used in mechanical systems to control
heat and moisture flows.
The Committee sponsors Research Projects, which are a way to further knowledge in our field.
We provide valuable assistance in the writing and revision of the four chapters in the Handbook for which we are responsible.
We often sponsor one or more Transactions Sessions, Seminars, or Forums at the Society National Meetings. This is a good opportunity to let others know what TC 4.4 is doing.
Finally, we are also involved with the writing and revision of standards, whether they be society-wide standards or those sponsored specifically by TC 4.4.
Most of the work for the TC takes place during the subcommittee meetings, so please attend those meetings to get involved in the activities of the committee.
